Firstprizebears Vancouver 27-09-1997 – 27-12-2012

Last September I wrote a story about “Beertje”and the fact that he had celibrated his 15th Birthday. Yesterday morning, Mieke Mussche called and as soon as I saw the number in the display, I knew that Beertje was no longer amongst us. That was correct. On Boxingday it didn’t go well, did not want to get up by himself and it could be seen from his expression that he was at the end of his strenghts. That night the veterinarian came to Roland and Mieke’s place. She had looked after him the past nine years. The time that Beertje had spent with Roland and Mieke. She clearly stated that it was time to let him go. Ofcourse a heavy decision, but Mieke and Roland where strong enough to follow the advise of the vet.

Beertje peacefully started his last journey. In his own wellknown area and together with the people who had loved and spoiled him over the last nine years of his long life.

I was so happy that I have had the change to spend 6 years of my life with Beertje. He was a special dog, which whom I experienced alot and who also gave me alot. Many tears have flown. Now, it are just lots of beautiful and wonderful memories, reminding us about these moments that he gave us with his goodness and faith. A special thanks to Roland and Mieke for taking such a good care of my loved Beertje. He couldn’t have found a better home.
